WAKAFLEX is a premium lead free flashing that is an alternative to traditional lead flashing. It is predominantly used on residential tile roofs but can also be used on metal and polycarbonate. No specialist tools are required, and installation can be up to 50% quicker than traditional lead flashing. Wakaflex is an extremely resilient material that’s UV resistant and completely waterproof. Inside the main Wakaflex body is an aluminium mesh that provides rigidity and a lasting memory of the roof profile when dressed to the roof surface. Wakaflex has two butyl sealing strips running along both edges of the 5 metre rolls and a 3 piece HDPE protective backing. It can stretch up to 50% in length and 15% in width. Wakaflex is designed to replace lead flashing in all its traditional applications and is easily dressed down by hand to any roof material with a smooth seamless finish.

Best For – New build applications such as abutments, step-flashing, chimney, Dutch Gables, skylights

and as a penetration flashing.

DAKAFLASH is Australia’s best value lead free flashing range. It’s a composite laminate flashing consisting of a coloured creped aluminium top sheet, with 100% butyl adhesive that’s protected with a two piece HDPE backing. Embedded within the butyl adhesive is the same reinforcing aluminium mesh that’s inside our best-selling lead free flashing; Wakaflex. This provides Dakaflash with additional rigidity and support compared to Smartform while maintaining the smooth contoured finish people associate with Wakaflex. It can stretch up to 30% in length and is designed to replace lead flashing in all its traditional application, for those who prefer a fully butyl back and a cheaper price point.

Best For – New build applications such as abutments, step-flashing, chimney, Dutch Gables, and maintenance flashing work

SMARTFORM is made from the same creped aluminium top-sheet and Butyl adhesive as DAKAFLASH but is does not have the aluminium reinforced mesh. With up to 60% stretch in length, Smartform is the most versatile flashing in the range. This makes it suitable for ad-hoc and difficult to flash areas such as roof penetrations, ducts and sky lights as well as extreme roof profile shapes like KLIP-LOK metal, and polycarbonate roofing sheets. Because Smartform can stretch up to 60% it’s capable of flashing around a 360 degree diameter in one piece and is perfect for lining roofing components that are prone to rusting by creating a waterproof flashing barrier such as box gutters.

Best For – Roof penetration flashing, ad-hoc jobs with extreme profiles, lining box gutters, valleys, carports, wall connections, dormers and chimneys.

How to Clean Terracotta Roof Tiles Safely (Without Pressure Washing)

TERRACOTTA ROOF CARE GUIDE The most common advice for cleaning terracotta roof tiles, pressure washing, is also the method most likely to damage them. High-pressure water strips the tile’s protective surface, forces moisture under the tiles, and often makes moss and lichen come back faster and thicker than…

Roof Paint Types Explained: Concrete, Terracotta and Metal Coating Systems Compared

TECHNICAL REFERENCE GUIDE Concrete tiles, terracotta tiles and metal roofing do not use the same coating system, and treating them as interchangeable is the single biggest cause of early coating failure. Each substrate has a different porosity, a different failure mode and a different primer chemistry it needs…

Roof Tile Painting Cost NSW: Full Price Guide, Coating Lifespan and What Actually Drives the Cost

ROOF PAINT COST GUIDE A tile roof paint job in NSW typically runs from around $18 to $60 per square metre, depending on tile type, roof condition and access. Most standard homes land somewhere between $3,000 and $9,000 for a full repaint. But the price per litre on…

Genuine Match vs Near-Match Roof Tiles: Which Should You Use?

TILE MATCHING COMPARISON A genuine matching profile and a near-match substitute can look almost identical from the ground and behave completely differently on the roof. The genuine match shares the same sidelock, water channel and cover width as the surrounding tiles, so it seats, drains and weathers the…

Can You Replace Just a Few Roof Tiles? When a Matching Repair Beats a Full Reroof

ROOF TILE REPAIR GUIDE Yes, you can often replace just one, two or a handful of roof tiles. If the surrounding roof is sound and the damage is genuinely localised, finding the correct matching tile is usually more sensible than disturbing an otherwise serviceable tiled roof. The important…
